The classic advice for 35mm film cameras was: It sounds like I would be better to find 85/1.8 for 'fullbody portraits' (oxymoron, i know) than 135/2.8? Only filter that I would buy is the good quality Infrared. will have different effect in digital photography. most filters that were used with black and white film. Hence buy just a lens + lens hood, don't send extra money on filters . If you still see your eye in the mirror, than the polariser is linear . look into the mirror with polariser male thread of filter facing you > you should be able to see your eye reflection in the mirror > now turn the filter 180 deg. around still holding it between your thumb and the index finger > the filter should be black, you eye reflection in mirror not visible. make sure that it is a circular polariser, not linear polariser. As well, if the lens comes with polariser filter. The UV filters were only effective with film.
You don't need the UV or skylight filter for digital cameras and if anything, the UV filter will mess up with your NEX manual focusing aid and with TTL metering, specially at night. tell them to keep their filters and give you a discount instead. you will spend more money and end up with more distortion, vignetting etc.Īs well, with old manual lenses, you get old UV or Skylight filters. Don't bother with any zoom outside this range. the 85 mm / f1.8 fixed lens is probably the best bet and for more flexibility 35-105 or 35-135. The fixed 135 mm lens gives you less flexibility and if you are after portraits of any kind. buy the manual zoom lens if you can stretch your finances a bit. Amazon is obviously a better place to buy than on E-Bay. Don't ever even think of buying adapters made by Fotga.
All of adapters I bought were solid Aluminium with chromed brass faceplate and no frills like aperture lock ring. send me the e-mail, and I will send you a shortcut. HK dealers are more approachable if things go wrong.
The cheapest adapter you can buy from Hong Kong. For 250 Euros, you can get an adapter that can shift and tilt ! For 50 Euros, you can get the adapter that can "tilt ?" as well. most fixed adapters that you can see advertised on E-Bay or Amazon.
